KeepAm

Project: KeepAm – Nigerian tax calculator and compliance platform

Industry: Finance and tax – freelancers, content creators, remote workers and small businesses

What we did: UI/UX design, web app development, SEO and content

Live site: keepam.ng

The challenge

The Nigeria Tax Act 2025 changed personal income tax for millions of people, with a new ₦800,000 tax-free threshold, new progressive tax bands from 15% to 25%, and new reliefs such as rent relief. Many people suddenly weren’t sure what they owed.

Freelancers, content creators and small business owners were hit hardest. Their income often comes from many sources, in different currencies and at irregular times. Most tax tools were built for salaried employees or accountants, not for someone paid by brand deals, client invoices or platform payouts. Missing the March 31 filing deadline also carries real penalties.

KeepAm needed to make Nigerian tax simple for the people the system had overlooked: show them what they owe in seconds, then help them stay organised all year.

Our approach

We started with the one question every user has: “How much tax do I pay?” So the very first thing on the site is a free calculator that answers it instantly, with no sign-up needed. Everything else, including tracking, invoicing and filing preparation, is there for people who want to go further.

We worked closely from the official 2026 rates, so every figure the platform shows matches the law, and we wrote all the explanations in plain, everyday language rather than tax jargon.

What we built

  • Free tax calculator. Enter your annual income and see your tax under the 2026 rates in about 60 seconds.
  • Income and expense tracking. Record earnings from every source and see the tax impact of each payment as it comes in.
  • AI receipt scanning. Snap a receipt and let the platform capture the expense for you.
  • Professional invoicing and client management. Create invoices and keep client details in one place.
  • Filing preparation. Filing-ready records, so tax season is a matter of checking, not chasing paperwork.
  • Income projections and “what to set aside”. Users can see roughly how much to put away for tax as the year goes on.
  • VAT, WHT and payroll tools for small businesses, plus deadline reminders so nobody misses March 31.
  • Works offline, for users with patchy connections.

Design and user experience

Tax is stressful, so the design had to feel calm and trustworthy. We used a clean layout, clear numbers and a friendly tone (“Know what you owe. Keep what’s yours.”), and built tailored journeys for freelancers, content creators, remote workers, employees and small businesses, so each visitor quickly sees how KeepAm fits the way they earn.

SEO and content

We built KeepAm’s content around the real questions Nigerians search for, such as “How much tax do I pay in Nigeria?”, the 2026 tax brackets and the filing deadline. Clear, verified answers sit right on the site, supported by an in-depth tax guide and blog. That helps KeepAm show up in search results and AI answers, and positions it as a trusted source on Nigerian tax.

The outcome

KeepAm is now used by more than 2,000 creators, freelancers and small businesses, and the platform has been featured on TVC’s TechnyFire. What started as a simple free calculator has grown into a full compliance platform that helps Nigerians understand their tax, stay organised and file on time.
